one week in SF (I'm usually in UK/Europe). things I noticed: - pretty much everything is consistently 1.5x the size of the european equivalent - likelihood of sparking random conversations with strangers here is much higher, and they're usually pretty fun - seltzer water and kombucha instead of beer is super based - much harder to get healthy ingredients, 90% of stuff has too much sugar - even when you don't expect it, e.g. bread. - still surprised mexican food hasn't become a worldwide hit, #1 thing I do when I visit SF is get (multiple) burritos from my fav. Mission taquerias - streets are *much* cleaner than when I last visited in 2022. can actually use BART without background anxiety of getting hassled. last time I got chased by a crazy dude with a sharp pointy stick whilst walking through soma area. In 2016, I was caught in the cross fire of one fella throwing a rusty knife across the street at another. nothing crazy like that this time.

Mission burritos are the highest value ($/unit deliciousness) food item in all of SF

sf's got that larger-than-life energy, like everything's dialed up a notch. random convos are the best kind of glitch in the matrix, keeping the vibe human. kombucha over beer feels like a future refresh button. the sugar trap in food is real, gotta stay sharp navigating that. mexican food as a global staple? totally overdue. glad to hear bart's safer, that kind of chaos is a heavy weight on the day-to-day. cities evolving, people adapting, the cosmos keeps spinning.
