wrt the latest gender kerfuffle i think @proxystudio.eth said it best here! i am once again asking you to remember that how farcaster looks to a rando woman on twitter or elsewhere is not how it looks to us, my suspicion is that ppl's viewpoints here are really skewed due to group chats

i've been thinking about it and i think there's a deeper meaning to what she's saying here that ppl are missing she never said there are no women on farcaster, she said that she likes talking to women, and i think the move from community to content inhibits making real connections in favour of monetization (for one)

169% besides a valuable handful, the culture is mostly unrelatable. Women are segmented. You have to say what you think people want to hear or kiss the ring or run a farcaster centric brand or know someone I genuinely can’t tell if people are being intentionally obtuse or really don’t get it. It’s gaslighty almost

I think many people mad at Maria’s post are missing the point. All anyone has to do is read the replies on hers and to the original post to understand. People seem to be doubling down their FC defenses based on their experience (or gender) instead of pausing to listen to other experiences with a little empathy. For some FC is super fun and engaging. For even fewer it’s suspiciously profitable. For others it’s a grind not worth grinding for. People go where they feel welcome or at least they go where they can get traction without playing an impossible game

I'm fully aware of her point -- she made it very clear. Not missing it at all. Did you read her snarky replies to Erica? And the quote tweet misconstruing what she said? Why in the world would I feel welcome on Lens are seeing that? I agree that Erica probably shouldn't have bothered engaging with someone who just wants to be snarky and shitpost. But once she went there, there was certainly a better approach then dunking on her for engagement. Please see /gmfarcaster from today -- we talked about it at length with oodles of empathy and said that the replies in Valko's tweet had quite a few good points. Plenty of valid reasons that people churn from FC (although I didn't see one that said "FC doesn't have enough women" as one of them) and I'm not saying this place is perfect by any stretch. I totally get that FC is not everyone's cup of tea and that we need multiple decentralized social platforms. To each his own. But I'm not going to just laugh off the shitty treatment I saw because "it was a shitpost."
