A 35 lb kettle bell fell off of a 24” box at the gym on my big toe. I don’t think it’s broken but might loose the toenail. Gnarly, huh? (Need to be creative for rest of /commit x /higher-athletics month)

I'm doing ice, arnica, rest, nsaids, and some light flexing. @notdevin.eth or @keccers.eth have you ever got a gnarley heavy weight injury like this? If so, what have you found best for recovery?

damn my toe hurts just from seeing this pic… get well soon and if possible make a x ray none the less. if it is broken and you don’t know about it, it could take longer to heal…

Probably a good idea. My guess is I’ll get an air cast and spend about $500 on some imaging. Toe doesn’t feel broken, but I have a really high pain tolerance so who knows…

If there is a break and it’s displaced, then you should be able to tell once the swelling comes down. If there is no displacement then I wouldn’t bother with the imaging and the doc, just use it to keep the blood flowing so the healing occurs faster

I’m a big believer in the deferred benefits of improved cardiovascular health through anaerobic training … self healing and injury resilience is one of the biggest downstream benefits of metabolic conditioning and functional strength training No pain, no gain
