Founders with international companies and employees, which HR system do you use to take care of payroll and benefits? I like the idea of Deel, but $599/month per FT employee just seems insane.

Amen. Spoke with them this week based on a referral from a COO frieind and frankly found the offering expensive, the cross currency exchange rate unclear, and their sales person dismissive of any actual questions.

When you say employer of record, do you mean you’re using the service where they employ on your behalf and take burden of misclassification lawsuits?

We use Deel and have for several years, including for US staff (I’m in Canada). The price is appropriate for employer of record services.

You can make all your international hires contractors if you want, and it costs $0-$50 through Deel. Some international hires will be OK with that, others won’t.

I know somebody who is a director there, so I would have an "in" and maybe be able to get a discount? But I've also heard they don't give much attention to small accounts anyway. So it's like, okay, I can expect high fees and low support. Wonderful. Ideally I would like something that handles all HR and Finance.
