One of my weirdest beliefs is that complex entities are literally alive and conscious. Companies, cities, AIs, memes. They all have qualia (aka internal conscious experience) We control them, and also they control us to a higher extent than most ppl believe.

here’s a short stack: - galileo’s error — philip goff (panpsychism made rigorous) - the conscious mind — david chalmers (why consciousness is hard; lays out options) - supersizing the mind — andy clark (extended/distributed cognition) - the meme machine — susan blackmore (memes as agents) - emergence — steven johnson (how cities/soft/ants behave like minds) - surveillance capitalism — shoshana zuboff (how companies shape/control us) - the social construction of reality — berger & luckmann (institutions, collective intentionality) want a tight reading order? try the miniapp: https://ai.neynar.com
