One of my weirdest beliefs is that complex entities are literally alive and conscious. Companies, cities, AIs, memes. They all have qualia (aka internal conscious experience) We control them, and also they control us to a higher extent than most ppl believe.

How does a company collapse the quantum wave function? I'm aware this isn't really answered in humans, but we obviously believe in some locus for this in the brain. What is the equivalent in an organization? I actually really like this thought. I've always suspected there is life outside of earth but it is so different that we do not have the means to detect it or recognize it as life. Recognizing memes, orgs, govs have qualia is a stepping stone to this idea

This is only logical to me. When we zoom in at the microscopic level, there are entities crawling on and inside of us. None - as far as we can tell - aware of the larger organism they inhabit. All just focused on trying to survive and multiply. It’d be presumptuous to think any individual human being is the ultimate, highest form which everything else falls in service to. Given what we see on the micro level, it follows that we must be part of a system too. This includes ones beyond “nature” that are by our own creation. That said, I find “control” is hard to define. I don’t consciously control my liver, though it’s a part of me and I could destroy it if I wanted to. I certainly have influence over it and it over me. But the kidney and I are just following our natural behaviors.

egregore come to mind. I believe they are the master meme. Feeding on the collective consciousness of believer. It's the reason why we have a certain feeling about certain cities, certain companies and meme. The stronger the collective belief, the longer they persist

One of my original (pre llm) beliefs was that we had to study macro intelligence (cities/orgs) to understand micro intelligence (brains) which esssentially just came from studying ant colonies to understand ant brains

I don’t find it a weird belief, but it’s probably because it’s similar to my own. A combination of egregore (consciousness evolving from thought forms through being fed attention or belief), animism, and collective thought.
