Anyone else record a 22 minute video after lying in bed for days thinking about how we’re messing up our planet? Just me? I’m choosing *not* to post this on Farcaster because it’s too depressing. You can comment if you want the link, but it’s on the dangers of ocean acidification that aren’t discussed.Beware

1) might make a thread further elaborating. I’ve had literally so much fun making these videos and I will continue to do so. Issue is, the topics I talk about can be very sad because of the impacts us humans are having on the environment 90+% of the tome it’s negative.

Here’s a thought: we’re not messing up our planet We’re an organism like any other we change the environment to suit our needs… don’t different than an animal hunting off an entire species (which they do) and forcing that species to evolve or cease to exist the only question is will we find technologies to stop us from killing ourselves and create a world we want to live in

I had this vibe a lot in my 20s. Doing env chem and toxicology made me more optimistic about natures ability to endure/mediate But there is such large scale disregard for sustainability in agriculture/ocean fishing/ etc that industry needs regulatory guardrails for We’ve made a lot of progress, but tying these institutions to the political cycle is fucked for sure

I have not only been thinking about how we’re damaging our planet, but very resentful about the “climate change” narrative that shifts attention to useless initiatives related to carbon, while turning a blind eye to deforestation, overfishing, species displacement, pollution of the water table, lakes, oceans, etc.
