Got quite triggered today when in my team someone took a pic of a perfectly beautiful German news anchor (for a meme) and put it through Ai completely turning her into just one of those faces that all look the same. I find it really depressing how much of the "beauty standard" framed as empowerment is now trickling into real life with even young girls now starting anti-aging routines, and wanting plastic surgery. I get it algos like more of the same, but it warps our realities. How can we expect people to develop a sense of beauty if we condition them to perceive just one thing as that. We got a whole new kind of dysmorphia from our filtered faces, much innovation. https://youtu.be/baoRaEUmkpU?si=V75Pf2mK78Sho6Au

I don’t think people realize this about Ai. It works on statistical probabilities - things will all tend towards the same. Okay in some contexts and very strange in others.

Yeah the super successful Ai influences us just a logical consequence... They always fit the preferences never offend or have much of a real personality at all. One must wonder though what this does if they become more prevalent to our views of other humans.

Pop culture has always been like this to a degree. Very rarely do non-standard people do well on a mass scale. Ai makes it more acute and noticeable - maybe it’ll make us crave uniqueness?

i am not sure, i've heard people who say they don't even know whether what they like is actually them or just because it's been conditioned haha i agree - to a degree mass appeal has always gone hand in hand with assimilation. BUt if you go back a few years, at least movie stars and celebs had faces you could differentiate haha

Go back 5 years and it was the height of the Chris era. Chris Hemsworth, Chris Evans, Chris Pratt, Chris Pine and TBH they all had the same vibe. Not as bad as Ai but not so far off.
