Why speaking in Spanish is the only way to truly learn 

Was talking with a friend at the gym today (he works out at the classes)

He’s from Venezuela and just started English classes at local community college

He talks English and I talk Spanish and we correct each other

Anyways I was trying to tell him that I was going to train shoulders during my workout, but I didn’t know how to say shoulder

I knew it was something with an H, so threw out “horno” which is oven and definitely not shoulders lmao

He laughs and says no that’s an oven 

Then he was like you give up?

Yea ok go ahead tell me

“Hombro”

DAMNIT! I was close!!

We laughed and moved on

And so while I just learned how to say shoulders, because of this interaction I will never forget it

It’s really helpful because speaking is so much harder than listening so you really have to be engaged 

And if both are practicing their non-dominant language than either of us can switch to correct or clear mix ups

Highly recommend two people learning opposite languages do this

I like a lot this kind of interaction where one speak in one language and the other in a different one.
