Treated a new client today She hurt her back and was in excruciating pain, could barely walk. Someone referred her to me and I said ok I use what I call “dynamic pricing” which can be summed up by saying the less I know the person and the harder their problem will be to fix the more I charge So I quoted this person in the upper bracket of my price range Anyways she comes in in bad shape, very nice woman, and I spend about 2 hours with her (way more than normal) because she needed the help and I had the time I was asking her if she had seen anyone else for this issue, etc, and if she had ever received bodywork before, she said no And I was like wow ok that’s bold to come in for a session having no idea what this is about And she said, and I quote, “I could barely walk and you came really highly recommended, and you were really expensive so I assumed it had to be worth it” So yea, if you’re ever doubting yourself, charge more

Was out to dinner in Brickell last night with a buddy of mine. We were just chilling catching up And this finance bro cold opens us and quickly segues into being a financial advisor of some sort Starts asking us if we own a business and what we do etc etc I got a pretty short fuse for this stuff so it didn’t take long before I started getting a bit rude “it’s irrelevant what I do. Whatever you’re offering I’m not interested” He then acted like I was being a dick lmao like “oh man sorry if I offended you I was just asking” No you weren’t bro. You interrupted my dinner with my friend and tried pitching services. Gtfo of my face. Anyways I shooed him away quickly and my friend who doesn’t like confrontation was like yo that was kind of dickish I was like I know but I’m not gonna let this chump burn 15m of my time pretending to be interested in whatever he’s selling just to say “no thanks” I took the aggressive route and skipped to the end lol Thoughts? Was I the asshole?

Too many people rely on instant gratification for their dopamine / worth rewards. You SAY you're going to do something and feel satisfied that you attempted it. If you even attempt it at all. You get pleasure from declaring your goals because it makes you feel like you’re moving towards them. But this is false satisfaction. We (humans) should only be rewarded either through high EFFORT or by seeing a goal through to completion. You SAY you want to start a business or launch a project but did you actually do it? Action > words Lean in to the uncomfortableness of working in silence and experience the joy of spending months or even years on working towards a goal without giving yourself a false reward. I Spent 16 months bullding Noetic and only 3 people knew about it. The reward lexperience when actually launching a fully completed supplement was far greater than any thing could have had by just talking about it. Delayed gratification is a key to growth and success.

One of my clients lost 40+ pounds People keep coming up to me saying nice job you did great with him etc etc And I tell them what I always say: I didn’t do anything I simply guided him down a path and made suggestions as to what changes he should make But at the end of the day he went home and put in months of discipline to achieve his goals. I deserve 0 credit Many of the clients I work with seduce themselves into thinking that because they hire a pro trainer that results will be easy Absolutely not, the only thing you get from a trainer like me is confidence that if you DO put in the effort, results will come But the hard part is waking up every day, sticking to the plan, putting in the work, and doing it for months on end Im super happy my client achieved his goals, but it’s exactly what I expected to happen if he did what he said
