Yeah I mean they are totally insufferable cunts. Somewhere between Morissey and Eric Clapton on the UK-guitar-rock-bigot scale.

But the songs are very much premium mediocre, rather than the forgettable slop I had them categorized as.

First of all fvck Clapton all together never could stand that guy. 
Kinda had; The Verve, Radiohead, Coldplay, and Oasis in one category.

But yeah, to paraphrase: 'premium mediocre, not complete slop' seems fair. 👍

Not sure if Pink Floyd fits into that broader category but they are great no matter what.

Hahahha. Yeah, it's weird sometimes things you hate grow on you later and vise versa. Some of those bands like the Doors are almost there own category... There was a lot of early - mid nineties music that I fade now i.e., Trans-am, AIR, (the french band), Mogwai , etc. that I though were exceptional at the time.
