I'm glad I really haven't had to use Next.js much especially with a mix of SSR and CSR. Seems like a real mess. https://x.com/infinterenders/status/1981167050241561050?t=fzj9AoSod1JIttaL6abzTw&s=19

It’s a raging dumpster fire and the only framework I’ve used that seems to get worse with each release. I wasted half a day this week when their migrator choked on a very simple configuration file when upgrading to eslint 9. The app router is also particularly bad and should be avoided at all costs.

Are there better alternatives because I don’t want to stick with a dumpster fire

Astro has a fairly sane model (Islands) of clearly separating out what needs to run on the client and what can be generated at build time. If you are building a blog or something with a lot of markdown content then Lume (running on Deno) is pretty good solution. Getting client side JavaScript to work is a bit fiddly but doable. I’ve also heard good things about remix, svelte, and tanstack but not personally used them.
