Just because it was bad before, doesn't mean it can't be better. Things have been getting worst and worst in the past 46 years with Islamic extremists. They chant death to america and death to Isreal at least three times a day in mosques, force women to wear hijab and more. People want the minimum amount of freedom. I don't have an answer for you but I can't believe this is it for me for the rest of my life.

Question. What was the human rights record for the us backed regime that was in charge before the republic of Iran, and if it's not much better, why would Iran think anything would change with a forced regime change?

I said I don’t understand why anyone would stand by this regime. I know Iranians aren’t the regime and as I understand it, most don’t want them in power.

There are plenty of Iranians who hate Khamenei and his autocratic security apparatus AND love their homeland and remain deeply proud of their Persian culture and history.

Likewise, I imagine plenty of people who loathe Trump nevertheless would take up arms for the national defense if a foreign state launched a major attack on American soil during his presidency and killed growing numbers of civilians.
