basically you’re looking for an “asian”bakery. they’ll often have mochi, rice cakes, egg yolk pastries, stuffed buns, etc.

i personally prefer challah or greek tsoureki cuz it's usually cheaper but shokupan is p good. doesn't have to be japanese, korean/chinese bakeries will have it too most of the time

challah is more light and fluffy imo, whereas milk bread is a bit more dense. either way, both delicious when cooked in butter.

i really want to figure out a recipe to make french toast that tastes almost like a churro one day need a bread that will be slightly chewier i think
