a few things to look out for to spot these very weird accounts: - repeatedly interacting with @nounishprof and @adrienne re: /gmfarcaster, but in a bizarre way given they're audience members i.e. "come join us, we're streaming!" or awkwardly quoting the hosts/guests - noticeably low-effort quote casts with nothing to add, just paraphrasing the original cast - casts that contradict one another with no regard for time/place e.g. "no food in my fridge at home this morning, darn" and then 4hr later "I'm on vacation in cuba" - food pics with one setting in photo 1 (granite/quartz countertop) and a different one in photo 2 (laminate or wood countertop)

fake isn’t the right word, more like authentic vs. inauthentic or organic vs. inorganic engagement. groups of accounts are just replying to one another to boost their metrics.

So what—should smaller accounts just sit back and watch while others collect all the rewards without even having a chance to compete? Of course not. They’ll naturally try to find ways to stay in the game. If the goal is to discourage farming, maybe the better approach is to level the playing field—make everyone’s engagement carry the same weight, not just those with big followings. Yeah, farming might not be ideal—but in this context, it’s also understandable. everyone’s engagement for the leaderboard is weighted relative to their follower count, so it already does exactly what you just suggested

being friends with the OGs and having a smaller account gives you a greater edge than not being friends with the OGs and having a smaller account, i’ve personally noticed it
