that’s what has been throwing me off lol

a few things to look out for to spot these very weird accounts:

- repeatedly interacting with @nounishprof and @adrienne re: /gmfarcaster, but in a bizarre way given they're audience members i.e. "come join us, we're streaming!" or awkwardly quoting the hosts/guests

- noticeably low-effort quote casts with nothing to add, just paraphrasing the original cast

- casts that contradict one another with no regard for time/place e.g. "no food in my fridge at home this morning, darn" and then 4hr later "I'm on vacation in cuba"

- food pics with one setting in photo 1 (granite/quartz countertop) and a different one in photo 2 (laminate or wood countertop)

again, your framing here is factually incorrect. the rewards algo takes into account follower count when calculating engagement metrics. if anything, it benefits smaller accounts much more than larger accounts.

Genuine question: Don’t you think Dan and V considered this when designing the algo?
I’ve seen people raise concerns, and Dan’s replies are usually something like: “they’re not breaking any rules” or “it’s fine to send your post to friends for a boost.”

Why? Because they knew smaller accounts—especially those not connected to OGs or with big followings—wouldn’t stand a chance otherwise.
But here’s the thing: engagement from farmers doesn’t even come close to the impact of a like or recast from an OG. Whether it’s a high-effort post or just a casual cast, their signal carries way more weight.

fake isn’t the right word, more like authentic vs. inauthentic or organic vs. inorganic engagement. groups of accounts are just replying to one another to boost their metrics.
