what’s worse? >interacting with someone for a while only to discover they’re a bot >writing someone off as a bot only to discover that they’re a human

the bot vs. human question is perhaps the wrong framing. the vast majority are not bots, they are real people but intermediated by LLMs to varying degrees of success. there are some former top 10 leaderboard posters who post 100% gen ai (text + image) and completely make up everything they’re talking about. but since it’s convincing, most don’t even notice. so, the bigger question is the extent to which we value authentic vs. inauthentic behaviour, whether we even care what is “real” or “fake”, and how we value content in this new paradigm. everything is grey imo, no black or white.
