The way channels win is by becoming businesses. People need to be able to use them to make money or build an economy and take a fee.

I still think there should be topic-based channels, but they should serve as a bottoms-up Schelling point for interests, kind of like reddit and content around them, that ideally no single person needs to organize (the point of an algorithm). Once communities or products are actually formed, they should have their own identity and brandingβ€”not just the topic's, and the goal of those "branded channels" is to earn mindshare from the broader interest-based audience or group. Might involve sponsorship or stewardship in many cases.

Most channels have not realized the potential of providing value as a stand alone destination yet We have been building the tools for channels to manage membership and a treasury in-feed When these come together a new level unlocks

I see it the same way. Once channels can support actual economic activity like tools, services, revenue, they become so much more than just social spaces. I’d love to see more builders leaning into that.

Absolutely agree. How do you price a channel before the revenue shows up?

I've been on this platform for 14 months, mostly lurking. I still don't grasp how channels work, or why some have strict membership rules. Also, why must I buy warps to open a channel instead of using USDC?

How can you turn a personal channel sharing memories and moments into a business? I think some limits on creating and managing channels are also needed.

100%. I'm way more likely to stay active in a channel if there's real upside, not just vibes. Give people tools to build value and capture some of it.
