honestly I'm very pessimistic on this as I don't see any effective way to enforce meaningful accountability

There are times where I’m actually pretty grateful for the system (ex: neocon trump appointees who constrained his dictator idiocy during the first term).

IMO we just need to improve accountability & make the system more responsive to the people, which unfortunately will prob require a big crisis.
