The United States is a collapsing empire. It took the western Roman Empire 700 hundred years to collapse. How long will it take us?

I give it 50 more years, more likely less. Given our unprecedented technologies and how fast they're developing, I wouldn't be surprised if it's 10-20. US isn't the only country that'll be affected by tech like AI.

Rome was found 21 April 753 BC & fell in 1453 AD when the gates of Constantinople fell. We’d be so lucky to last half that long.

Hey maretus, just curious — why are you so down on the US? Have you seen how things are going in other countries? Honestly, most of them are in way worse shape. At least the US seems to have a strategy in the Middle East, and so far it looks like it’s working.

Good topic for PoliCast prediction miniapp coming soon 😅 I think the climate crisis accelerating makes this an unprecedented time for humanity, so it's hard to compare with historical examples for a prediction...

51 more years? Taking Canada on these days is guaranteed to shorten the lifespan. 😅 But we could really use a bailout, ngl.

The decline is happening. $EURC is even coming on the scene. The question is do we sky ricket and blow up in a spectacular fashion or do we draw it out for the next 20+ years

So one thing from history class I learn talking about empires, communication speed limited the size and effectiveness of empires. And the Mongols were a prime example of solving that problem very efficiently for their time with their messenger horses. How far the horse can travel was the limiting size of their empire. I think with internet and social media, it might be soon or might be a long time. LOL I know that's a terrible answer😆 . Faster news might push it to collapse faster or make it easier to control the masses. But I think a lot of other countries are facing more immanent problems ie: China debt and population problem, South Korea has a even worse population problem, etc... many analyst predicts a major economy collapse with those countries by 2035. US will probably won't face anything that immanent, and collapse of those countries might keep US alive longer. It really depends on Americans where they want to take their country too😆 .

we’re more in a republic crisis phase, akin to the post Punic war years (think parallel with the fall of the Soviet Union), and now in the gracchi brothers to Marius - Sulla period
