at launch, we discussed at length here what the long term viability of Threads was. at this point it's safe to say Threads is a worthy contender, being 1/3 or 1/2 the size of Twitter. Zuck doesn't play https://techcrunch.com/2024/08/02/metas-threads-cross-200-million-active-users/

Man, I would be surprised if many of those 200m are actually using the app. Facebook is constantly promoting me to check threads and hitting me with weird notifs for it too now.
