The Justice Department cut a deal yesterday letting Boeing dodge prosecution over the 737 Max crashes that killed hundreds of people. “America is a nation of laws.” Yeah, for the poors.

This is really sad. That's basically shitting on the families of the victims. Imagine reading this as an immediate family member?

Well they put 500m in a fund for the families, but that’s a far cry from what they would have been awarded in a class action or individual cases.

This clears them from liability for that also.

It being a far cry from what they would've been awarded in a class action suit is why it's painful. In cases like this, a lot of the families find comfort in the companies feeling real pain, so it's not always about the money. This is somehow taking away the closure they so desperately need. That's how I see it though.
