Calling all Toyota & Lexus owners to check their VIN for this RECALL: Manufacturer Recall # 23TB15 Toyota has acknowledged that a defect in the Occupant Classification System (OCS) may result in the passenger airbag failing to deploy in the event of a crash. --> This directly compromises a core safety feature we relied on when choosing this vehicle. Despite the recall being announced more than a year ago (Dec 20, 2023), I was recently informed by Toyota Customer Service that there is still no remedy available and that no rental or loaner program is being offered in the meantime. -- Read More in Comments Toyota might not see this post—but if enough of us speak up, they won’t be able to ignore it. Every owner affected by the airbag recall should contact Toyota directly and file a complaint with NHTSA. Public pressure works—let’s move the needle together. https://www.nhtsa.gov/recalls

This situation places owners like myself in an unacceptable position: I either drive a vehicle that is not fully safe or absorb the personal financial burden of securing alternative transportation—neither of which is a fair expectation of a customer who acted in good faith. I think it's reasonable to demand the following: 1_ A clear timeline for when the necessary repair or replacement parts will become available. 2_ Immediate access to a safe and comparable loaner or rental vehicle until the recall is fully resolved. ( I am a mother driving kids around).

Another question: When I asked the Toyota Brand Representative on the phone what would happen in the event of a crash when the passenger would be severely injured or even die, he responded:"I can't speak in hypotheticals."
