Please be extra careful when exporting your Farcaster wallet private key. Have had 2 users message me today that it was compromised after storing outside of Farcaster and funds were drained :(

Don’t use your FC wallet keys in other wallets. 

If you get compromised, there is no way to rotate the wallet with our key storage model today. 

It’s ok to export your keys and put in a password manager, or to send funds out to another wallet.

Why don’t we support rotating keys? 

We will in the future but it’s a very complicated feature and can open up other avenues for losing funds (e.g. rotating a wallet that has funds in it and forgetting to back it up)

For the time being, be careful when exporting wallets

Rotating keys sound fine in the short term; assuming limited scope/utilities. Long term, not bullet proof.  

Eventually analog technology will have to be implemented into truly secure systems.
