It’s a speculative token.  So people who buy $moxie are funding those who are selling.

In the case of moxie, it also has a burn mechanism which keeps sell pressure in check, so it’s probably better than 95% of tokens in this regard.

Speculation is how most innovative ideas get funded as well - startups are funded this way as well, and the barrier to getting new capital is much easier in crypto.

Yeah that’s the likely outcome here, too.  But it’s always nice to call out what is different about a new tokenomics model as well so we can learn from it.
