it's a shame more americans don't feel safe traveling to iran. it has some beautifully designed buildings.

Whirlwind by James Clavell is a very interesting (and flawed) view of Iranian culture during the Islamic revolution. Like his other books, he flattens the culture to make it palatable for western readers but a great read nonetheless.
