Went to a Coinbase alumni event tonight and loved @barmstrong sharing how he and the exec team resolve conflicts when they disagree on a topic. On a count of three, they'll each say on a scale of 1-5 how strongly they feel about it and the higher number gets it. He said he doesn't remember anyone ever signaling 5

Yeah true. 

I thought it was interesting if they never gave the same score because it’s an example where the stories we tell ourselves are often divergent from reality.

Is it common for companies to have alumni events?

This is the first I am hearing of it.

speaks to the simple strategy's effectiveness that it has persisted over a decade and works with more than just 2 people

i do this with my wife actually after having learned it from him, works great

so basically it's downstream of good hiring 😆
