can someone tell me if beating snipers on a token launch will work via alchemy websockets for pending blocks and submitting a order with tons of max gas? or is it more complicated than this?

Technically speaking it should come down to gas war bidding provided you are inside of the same block but on L2s you are at the mercy of the sequencer to order the tx's.

With block times at two seconds it's very doable. Hardest part is minimizing gas costs because there exists an optimal between max gas, fun fact there is a max you can bid, and the actual cost of first place.

You also need to keep in mind that snipers do all kinds of precalc work to get into the first place slot and win the snipe.

Gas only matters for determining your position within a specific block. If you are not in block 0, overbidding on tips won’t get your transaction included in block 0, you’ll just be first in block 2, not retroactively included in the previous block.

Yes, we’re basically saying the same thing, just with a slight nuance. The key point is that snipers aim to get their buy transaction included in the same block as the deployer’s liquidity add or trading enablement, not the block after (Deployment+1).

For example, if I’m the deployer and I set my gas price at 1 gwei, and you (the sniper) set yours at 2 gwei, your transaction will be validated before mine in the same block, so your snipe will fail, since the liquidity isn’t there yet. On the other hand, if you set your gas price at 0.99 gwei, your transaction will be included just after mine, ensuring the pool is live when you buy (in the same block, not +1). So it’s not just about outbidding, it’s about precision and positioning within the block.

You are bidding to be in the first block after the deploy tx hits. Within that block, Deployment+1, you want to be 0th slot if possible and that 0th slot is the gas bidding game you are playing.

So if you were to snipe, you wouldn't want to be prioritized over the deployer because then your transactions would just fail.
