is there an app to put books you’ve read and can follow friends to see what they’ve read as well?

could also add 
- wishlist
- books owned
- ratings + reviews

opportunity for a bookcaster client, especially seeing people here read lots of books like @phil 

revenue models could be
- freemium
- gated ama’s
- affiliate links for the books (ex: i bought @debbie ‘s book because i saw @thedude cast about it)
- ads

Challenge is two-fold:

1. Competing with the main client (currently Farcaster’s client)
2. Cost. Running a client is expensive

ah that's a shame, I was waiting for a massive announcement at some point.

Is it challenging to keep a FC client as a separate app up and running?
What made you make the decision to fully shut it down?

Yep! Unfortunately, I had to shut Readcast down for a variety of reasons. Standalone Farcaster clients were sort of cannibalized by mini apps. I think there's @nook that supports books and a bunch of other media that people can track.
