Saw storks for the first time ever this weekend, at the orangery in Strasbourg. There were so many of them and they were absolutely huge, sitting on their nests like dragons guarding watchtowers.

I was curious why they choose such high, open spots with no protection from wind or rain. And found out that storks have a strong instinct to return to old nests, often rebuilding on the same spot for generations. Nature’s original recyclers 🥹
