it costs 2500 warps (25$)/year to create a channel 

currently there are ~15k channels = ~$375K/year.

if channel creation becomes a part of the protocol and even if it 10xs from here, that's 3.7M$ revenue for the protocol.

what am i missing here?

They are actually 25$ to create. You don’t have to pay each year to maintain. Payment is to avoid spamming too much channels. Not a source of revenue.
