There’s consent which ties into demand. I see that. But in the end it comes down to professional ethics. If unsafe stuff is allowed, people could lose faith in the entire industry (which seems to have already happened for both medicine and aerospace so maybe it’s moot by now)…

Good rule of thumb is if the company offers you store credit for getting something HPLC tested yourself (or a refund for something that comes back as fake), there’s a good chance that it’s a good source. I take a certain supplement that shall not be named, and I look for Janoshik tests from other users before buying anything. This stuff is unregulated and you have to gauge what your risk tolerance is when interacting with vendors. It’s a very good idea to also establish what forums you trust and don’t trust, as each forum is pitted against each other.
