i've tried to use a number of recipe managers/planners/etc a long time ago, but felt the friction is too much when the app doesn't load instantly, and every tap is not snappy, so i always go back to apple notes

The only recipe thing that worked for me was an actual notebook šŸ¤·ā€ā™€ļø I only write down recipes that I've tried multiple times and would love to make again. I feel a bit like a grandma, but it feels good not to rummage in my phone/online to find a recipe. And also it's easier to comprehend cause I write down recipes in my own style, in the order that's easier for me to cook. Bonus points - I put a pretty thematic sticker beside each recipe for ease of search 🌸

Writing it down has a type of freedom that digital recording doesn't, certainly way more personalized. Since you said thematic stickers, have you heard of manual alphabetic bookmarking, so instead of stickers, you mark the paper thin side of the written page with ink/highlight according to the alphabet order

I prefer keeping digital notes so I could manage them, but when I write down a recipe it's almost like I'm setting it in stone 😁 That's a cool idea!
