My professor neighbor gifted me this book yesterday after I told him when it comes to history, I get bored reading about the details of wars, and prefer learning about the details of day to day life “These two men, whose lifetimes spanned nearly identical periods, were witnesses to one of the most creative half-centuries in Florentine history. As representatives of Florence’s governing class, their memoirs (a common literary form in Renaissance Florence) provide important insights into characteristic features of Florentine business activity and political experience.” https://www.waveland.com/browse.php?t=452

Do you like it so far? I'll pass on the title to other history enjoyers in my life.

I think you’d enjoy Life and Fate by Vasily Grossman. It’s a panoramic of Soviet life during WWII, modeled after War and Peace. There are chapters that take the perspective of Chuikov in Stalingrad, Hitler in the Wolfshange, a Soviet pilot, a Soviet tanker, a nuclear physicist, a Holocaust victim, and others.

i knew a good history teacher once in highschool. he was so such a good story teller that i took his summer class just for fun once. he would teach the class with super interesting stories with all sorts of details scattered in to help you imagine it, was amazing. he's currently serving the longest CP related prison sentence in arizona history 😬
