I got into a 3 day debate with Kenny where I tried to rebut his fantasy that All The World’s Problems Will Be Fixed If We All Become Freelancers In A Gig Economy of Everything (paid in BTC)

He has more faith in the generosity and vibes of pseudoanonymous rich people than me, that’s for sure 😅

As a disabled person who grew up in rural america, these are my biggest concerns with these ultra libertarian types (not Kenny tho, Kenny one of the good ones)

I agree, and I too genuinely care about the well being of humankind.  At the same time I see and detest the darker sides of human nature - the greed, the ignorance, the sheer selfishness - and for that reason have a harder time believing that Kenny’s Bitcoin utopian could ever actually work.

That’s sort of an interesting thought. That’s THE issue with his proposal more so than anything else — that BTC already dominated by whales

I think the only way that something like Kenny's Bitcoin world could possibly work is with a currency where every human being has the same amount. Like a UBI coin or something. Otherwise it's just an admission that you're not going to do anything about existing inequality and fascism. BTC world is basically zombie apocalypse.

It is happening. What amazes me is that we get really well-known people to say this as it is a good thing for everyone, and we clap for their wise words. We help companies and rich people get richer without giving rights to workers.

Another example: Elon says that working 120 hours per week should be the new standard and lots of people agree publicly. It is wild.

White collar labor is tight enough today I am getting the sense from my friends interviewing that what you outline is already happening but the interviewees aren’t even getting paid for their tasks

This reminds me of another cast from Balajis talking about conducting hiring interviews as paid micro-jobs. While this sounds good on paper, the truth is that companies will use it as a way to get their work done without paying anything back (or even paying) but not respecting labor rights at all. 

Money in general fires us greed. Greed runs the world unfortunately (just talk about tariffs 😁)
