Are any politicians doing something about this? The headline isn't an exaggeration. They analyzed 52 cadaver brains over a decade. Plastics increased 50%, and the avg amount in each brain was 7g. 😐 https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation/2025/02/03/microplastics-brain-body-accumulation-study/78005554007/

Ugh. How do you even fight this? I can’t remember if it was @ted or @keccers.eth who posted articles about a team doing microplastic research in CA and it was high end respectable brands that were full of them. It was terrifying!

Unfortunately probably need to prove it is causing health problems before it can be regulated. But seems pretty obviously bad.

There is broad alignment worldwide against plastic pollution. In March 2022 the UN agreed to address it via global treaty. Unfortunately no one has been able to agree on what that should look like, with the last meeting on it at the end of last year

That’s so sad. Much of the Osaka Expo is about sustainability, but it’s silly knowing they build the whole place only to tear it down in 6 months. Lots of messaging about plastic is evil and water is precious. I found one water refill station but 100 vending machines with plastic water bottles.
