I deleted my personal notion acct this year and honestly was amazing until I found out I had to use it for work T_T

I’ve lost notes in /logseq because of iCloud sync and this was not awesome because I made notes about my students and I needed that info

ofc it sucks if it is something you needed.. and it happened because of a sync... but then again it happens quite a bit to people on these platforms without them even syncing. the other day i was watching some youtube creator saying how they lost a ton of their art cause it was on notion (or drive) and just disappeared.

makes me wonder what do people do with paper notebooks when they move. Maybe they don't move. I started to journal in German (paper notebook) and mentioned it several times to my kids. If they ever want to know what's going on my head when I'm dead, they better pick up German (and learn how to decipher my scribble)

i carry them with me haha as a paper notebook person. of course there've been some lost over the course of my life, but the ones with notes that still are relevant they just will be part of any next move.

Do you re-read them? Do you have different notebooks for different purposes? Like how do you decide which note/notebook is relevant? I want to live in a van or boat once the kids are out so need a solution (ofc train would offer more space but that seems to be even less plausible than boat living)

a lot of the notes I take are philosophy related, or poems I liked, or quotes I enjoyed, sometimes passages from books. Atm I only have 2 such notebooks, and I def often go back because.. when i write stuff, i realize that a few months ago I made a note on the exact topic and then I find it again. I assume that the context of the writing it in helps me do that which I've never been able to when taking the notes on a laptop ^^ Sometimes I also note down observations I made on trips, I occasionally review those too. There's been other notebooks where it was mostly notes on online courses I did where I knew that... I don't wanna use that anymore (coding stuff and some marketing things I have by now deeply ingrained in me). Regarding journaling, I have done this at best haphazardly so there's not much there
