Oh, absolutely. I personally don't count potatoes as vegetables. In The Netherlands they used to be the same food category as grains, so the carbs part of a balanced diet. But sometimes a balanced plate or exciting elements are not what make the dinner fun. A nice taste-combination, or pure simplicity in a specific atmosphere can help as well :)
