I'm not sure the bitcoin podcast (probably Safedeen) but it basically talked about how corruption of money leads people to riskier and riskier businesses to beat out inflation. I believe they talked about Cuba and how doctors and nurses became resort servants and prostitutes since it became completely financially silly to engage in professional long term work. What was sad was I did listen to an Econtalk around the same time, and there was a man describing the same thing about Cuba. The key point in both cases is this behavior becomes normalized in the society when the money is corrupted. Open prostitution, drug dealing, rejecting professional work for short term crimes, becomes part of society. The issue that bothers me is this is rapidly becoming normalized in America, especially the "heroification" of it. I'm not a deep bitcoiner by the way, but their analysis of this by the more monetarist and historical focused folks years ago has been spot on. I'm not against people having vices, but the upfront brazen profiteering of it over the past 5 years on any medium, is definitely troubling. https://www.econtalk.org/casey-mulligan-on-cuba/
