When you see 'spiritual' without any context, it might be hard to tell if it's referring to 'deep feelings and beliefs' or rather something that would be better described as 'airy nonsense'...

I wonder if the studies on remote prayer / healing tip that top one.

IMO it's because it says or the power of the human mind to heal the body. That can fit within a scientific framework in terms of psychosomatic effects, stress etc.
