Reminder: the vast majority of users don't care about decentralization. Developers do! And a minority of ideologically principled users care. But the much bigger market is solving user problems. And if you have enough users, developers will be willing to tolerate your centralization.

Big facts in that we should not conform to what the users want - Henry ford said something along the lines of if we listened to what consumers wanted they would asked for more horses pulling a carriage instead of a motor vehicle. I still think it is important for people to understand the significance of decentralization.
