I really don’t understand the opposition from people about universal healthcare. I know it’s not perfect, but it’s certainly better than the shit we have now - Universal healthcare but only for old people. That in itself is just so inefficient. It’s literally the worst of both worlds. The government pays inflated prices for healthcare (only for old people). Why not just pay reduced prices for everyone? I don’t know anyone who thinks our current system is working. I pay almost 20% of my income for insurance that can tell my doctor “no, he actually doesn’t need that thing you the doctor said he needs. I always hear people say “well the wait times with universal healthcare would be outrageous!” Idk about you, I’m ok with waiting a little longer if it means not being held hostage by insurance companies more worried about profit than patients.

my insurance (which I pay several $100/mo out of pocket for) charged me $138 for an unnecessary OTC COVID test. Nationalize the entire thing, fire all of them, replace the entire "insurance industry" with a government office + AI, renegotiate the price of every drug / procedure / code in the US.
