Why are mini apps defaulting to USDC or WETH when $DEGEN is our native token? Top token on Base, brought most of us here. Should be the default. Devs like @dish @colin @tldr â whatâs stopping us?

Needs more onchain liquidity â you canât really conduct an economy on a low liquidity MoE

Not quite right. Liquidityâs never really been an issue, you can easily buy or sell hundreds of thousands, even millions worth of $DEGEN without problems. The screenshot you posted is just one pool. DEGEN is actually one of the most liquid tokens on Base overall. Of course, if you're comparing it to WETH itâll look smaller, but thatâs kind of a weird benchmark. Farcaster mini-apps arenât pushing serious volume yet, so the idea that DEGEN lacks the liquidity to support them doesnât really hold up.

Thatâs fair. But âwithout problemsâ is a stretch. Whatâs the price impact of a $1M buy? Itâs a chicken and egg problem. Why would I use a non-standard MoE with lower liquidity if I can use weth or usdc? Vibes and âwe were firstâ arenât really good answers

Because most people on Farcaster already have DEGENâway more than WETH and about on par with USDC. And unlike USDC, people actually got DEGEN for free. Over $100M worth has been distributed across the community. So if youâre looking for reach and frictionless MoE on Farcaster, itâs kinda hard to beat that.

I like this pitch â users having more of it is a good sell If youâre an app builder and youâre looking for dry powder, you should consider including degen as a unit of account
