I’ve been using the same wallet for over 5 years now. You can see my on-chain history — it’s public. 

I can understand stopping fresh wallets but the idea that you have no other way to verify a user’s “realness” is lazy and disappointing.

Out of curiosity though: when you signed up for Farcaster, didn’t you use a credit card? That’s arguably more invasive than a phone number, yet most people still do it without blinking.

We’re not collecting phone numbers to track, spam, or identify you personally. It’s simply a layer we use to manage access and prevent abuse, especially in early stages.

Giving out my phone number. I'll never do that. For anyone. For any reason. I don't care how much you try and dress up how transient and secure it is. Not happening. Especially not when there's plenty of rich on-chain public data already available to use.

Totally get it—most power users like you value privacy and have rich on-chain history. We’re using embedded wallets, and phone helps curb abuse. Curious though—what’s the main blocker for you?
