Yeah parchment and stone tablets.  Expensive and rare.

When paper came from China to Italy it sparked a time of great progress.

I would say so! 

I suppose things were written on things like leather,  stone, etc.

But made it a lot easier to write on paper yeah?

Imagine a time before paper was available - very hard to write your thoughts down.

But writing allows you to fully explore and share your thoughts.  And other things, too.

Cheap, plentiful paper was just as much a technological revolution as blockchain.
