Do you have strong feels about what the Optimism Superchain is missing and how we can improve it? I'm on the Optimism Developer Advisory Board this season (independent elected group) and we're putting together grants to help advance the Superchain Ecosystem. What kinds of things can we fund that would help induce or create the supply of missing aspects?

funding alternative developer tooling like alternative oracles, RPC providers, block explorers

any specific example? there's lots of alternative block explorers (many OSS!) and RPC providers, what's missing exactly? what kinds of oracles are you thinking?

i’m thinking that chainlink is preferred to redstone or others bc it’s the one you NEED to get to get listed or even considered in some cases same thing for block explorers - yes, there are many OSS block explorers, but what traction do they have? there needs to be a way to balance traction between monopolies and runner ups

how do you fund increasing traction for something?

- financial funding ofc (but it’s very little effort) - marketing support (inclusion in developer docs, co-branding in events, etc) - developer support -> bridging the gap between what developers are expecting and what alternatives are offering. sometimes devs don’t even know about alternatives, or there’s not a feedback loop to make sure that alternative products have progressed over time and maybe they have some value proposition it’s not about being biased towards specific alternatives, but give everyone at least equal exposure for example, we built thesuperscan.io and got a grant from op, but we still struggle to market it to chains - some choose etherscan only, others choose blockscout only some have two or three explorers which they support (shout out to @modenetwork @polynomialfi @superseed who support us) but many don’t want to spend money or even time to support..

1. financial funding toward what exactly? like say there's a solution but it's not very popular, what should financial funding be allocated to in order to make it popular? 2. including in docs is a good one, very actionable! any specific existing docs you're thinking of? if you have a suggestion, i can try to surface it with relevant people (send me a link + proposed change) 3. this is a hard one too, do you have any specific action ideas to improve it? as someone who has also built my share of public goods/OSS, i know it's hard to do sales/marketing (ie. how do your users find you?). even if you built something much better than the alternatives, there's no guarantee you'll gain adoption. "if you build it they will come" is rarely true. but i also know it's not as simple as "get someone else to do it for me", it requires a constant effort over many years. this kind of effort needs to be supported/encouraged, but we need to better define it too.
