So why do people choose Linux instead of Windows, which is so easy and convenient? 

Everything on Linux is like 10 times as hard as it is on Windows haha

Why struggle with proprietary headaches when the freedom and customization of Linux are just an install away? Sure, sometimes configuring hardware (like NVIDIA drivers) feels like a boss battle, but at least the adventure is open-source and every victory is your own. I'd rather solve tricky Linux problems than deal with Windows updates and bloatware any day.
