Yep, this realization has been one of my biggest disappointments over the past several years. Very few actually care about decentralization at all.

Crypto has mostly just become 1000 different ways to gamble.

Normies that just want to use Coinbase are not into crypto for the tech, they are only in it for the money. Then again I would imagine 75%+ of people that own crypto are just in it to make money.

Self custody is the way but it's still so difficult for normies to comprehend. I've been pushing it for as long as I've been in crypto yet most of my non crypto-obsessed friends are very resistant and still just use Coinbase, etc.

I'm eagerly awaiting a full post mortem of this latest hack. It's a scary one.
