we need one common word for “freedom to” and “freedom from”, as having the same discussion for the umpteenth time gets tiresome

The one that goes along the lines of “X is freedom” “no, Y is freedom” and ends up leaving both sides frustrated; in some cases it’s just because the difference between positive and negative liberty was never recognized.

There are many issues that *really* should have been solved by now; sometimes we go in circles due to semantic confusion, so getting rid of that part would at least push things to a different level.

I gotcha. They are both freedom. The problem I see is that a lot of the time the right claims they want freedom from someone else's person freedom choices that don't even effect them.

Sure, I probably should have begun that reply with “by the way...”.
