The market had a bad couple of days last time it seemed like he was going to try something. He will keep calling Papa Powell names on Truth Social but I think Jerome has nerves of steel. The fed doesn't want to do anything until they see inflation or job loss and neither has happened yet.

consequences need time to propagate, ripple out. i'm comfortably in shooting from the hip here; more data won't make my psychological guesswork easier. trump doesn't react to inconsequential abstracta like "percentages" and "numbers" - if the vibe is right for an egomaniacal rampage, that's what'll happen. then his admin will explain away the madness with those same numbers, percentages, and facts. easy to mislead quants.

Well Q1 saw negative gdp growth, hard to say if that'll be the same situation this quarter as a lot of the issue before was front loading to avoid tariffs. Inflation will definitely start ticking up soon though as there's 10% tariff on almost everything currently and 30% on most things from China. 50% steel/aluminum is going to be people out of a job in industries car automotive that use those inputs.
